I recently was chatting with a few individuals about my new running obsession and how I started a Read and Run Book Club on my blog. One person asked me, "So, do you listen to inspirational running books while running? Because that would be ironic." His comment peaked a interest in me. I usually run with my favorite tunes blasting in my head. I never thought about running with the sound of a book playing in my head. I wondered if I would be able to focus? Would I be distracted from run enough to keep going and maybe run for a longer amount of time? What would be my brains response? I am sure that many people run with books playing in their head, but I have never done so. So this was something I HAD to try.
I checked my book list and thought since I was already reading through two books during my rides to and from work on the DC Metro, I could download the next book on my list and listen to it when I was working out, running, or getting ready for the day, or getting ready to sleep. At this rate, I should be able to get through 3-4 books a month! Which would be excellent! I also have my religious studies each day. Those combined with my book list reading should fill up any time I might be tempted to watch TV or Facebook and encourage me to do something more educational and fulfilling! I downloaded Audible after doing some research on audio-book downloads. It turned out to be the best deal and price. Plus the first month is free and you get a free book!
So this month, in addition to my Book of the Month read and Bonus Read, I am listening to BORN TO RUN on audio! So far, I really love the narration of this book! Tonight will be my first run with a book playing in my head as well! So I will be back to report on how that goes soon!
